First Friday Art Walk in Dupont Circle

When: Every first Friday of every month

Where: Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is known as the “neighborhood of bistros, bookstores, and galleries.” It is a hub for activity, offering something for everyone in your group and a great way to hang with your family when they come to visit.

For art enthusiasts, it’s the place to be on the first Friday night of each month, so be prepared to battle the masses for your place in your favorite studio. It’s going to crowded, but it’s definitely worth the trouble. Free and metered parking are available, but we suggest taking the metro.

Open Studios at Monroe Street Market Arts Walk

When: Third Thursday of every month

Where: Monroe Street Market

The Arts Walk at Monroe Street Market is a charming little promenade that showcases 27 different artists’ studios, with an eclectic mix of styles. They just happen to be located in the same mixed-use development as some of D.C.’s most sought-after local eateries so finding good food is never a problem.

On open studio nights, guests have the opportunity to tour the studios, shop, enjoy live music, and observe a variety of art demonstrations.

For a complete list of what you can expect, visit Monroe Street Market online.

Even if you don’t call yourself an art lover, don’t miss this quintessential experience of Washington, D.C. culture. You never know what you will see or who you will meet when you venture out to events like these. And who knows? You may even find a local work of art that you will always remind you of your internship in DC when you are back home.
