As a Fall WISH Resident this might be your first Labor Day weekend in Washington DC! Although a city like DC may not provide typical backyard barbeques and pool parties there are tons of ways to celebrate the indication of summer ending this Labor Day weekend.

1. National Symphony Orchestra

This Sunday tap into your classical side and attend the National Symphony Orchestra. The best part? Outside of being able to hear world renowned artist celebrating classic American music the event is completely FREE with no tickets required. Seating is available on a first come first served basis.

2. DC Jazz August 31st - September 5th

Feeling the volunteer sprit this Labor day? The 18th annual DC JazzFest is the perfect intersection between Labor Day fun and giving your time to the community. DC’s JazzFest would not be possible without its amazing volunteers. They need help with the registration table, merch table and even stagehands! Join the team today!

3. 23rd Annual Car Show in Fairfax

If you want to get out the city and contribute to charity simultaneously Fairfax’s 23rd Annual Car Show is the place to be.  Fairfax, still accessible by metro via the orange line, host this event in support of Life with Cancer and Northern Virginia Therapeutic Riding Program. Admission is free but donations in support of the charity are accepted!

4. Maryland Renaissance Festival
  1. Maryland Renaissance Festival

Maryland is also a great place to be this Labor Day weekend! The highly anticipated annual Maryland Renaissance Festival will be open everyday this Labor Day weekend. Adult tickets are $24 which get you access to music, dancers, performances and more! Once you go through the gates you will have traveled back in time to 1536 Oxfordshire, England! Make sure to bring cash, the fair food and games will be irresistible, but they did not have credit card readers in the 1500’s!

5. Neighbors DC Market

Not every weekend needs to be scheduled down to the minute! If you are looking for a laid-back plan, then Neighbors DC Market is a relaxing oasis waiting for you. Food vendors and artisan shops line the streets with the goal of bringing the community together. Located in Georgetown this is THE spot for local quality goods!
