Political Fundraising Firm is currently seeking a part-time or full-time intern.  We are seeking qualified candidates who have a strong interest in becoming involved in the political field.

Qualified candidates are hardworking, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and have strong communication skills, both written and oral.  The internship is a great opportunity for those who want to learn more about the political campaign and fundraising fields and Political Action Committees.

Job Responsibilities include assisting in:

  • Program planning, fulfillment, communications and outreach
  • Tracking and monitoring incoming engagement requests, status of current engagements, and correspondence.
  • Arranging detailed speaking engagement briefings, and other documents
  • Organizing programs and/or events, by arranging for facilities and caterers, creating invitations and controlling the event budget
  • Creating and maintaining database and spreadsheet files
  • Taking and transcribing dictation, and composing and preparing correspondence, reports, and other documents

We are seeking candidates to work at least 15-20 hours a week with a stipend being offered.

Smiths Group is seeking an intern for its Washington DC Government Relations office. As an intern in this office, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including (but not limited to) attending committee hearings, analyzing government reports and documents, performing data entry, creating presentations and company articles, doing research for members of the office, attending relevant functions, and helping out with general office work. No prior experience is necessary, but basic typing and people skills, as well as, a proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for government relations experience and a good resume builder. U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) is offering an Executive Office Fellowship position for the Spring 2016 semester. The Executive Office Fellowship provides a wide range of complex and confidential support to the Office of the President and CEO. As a Spring Semester capstone event, the fellow will have the opportunity to help plan and fully participate in the USHCC’s annual Legislative Summit which will be held April 18th – April 22nd. This is a PAID position for a senior undergraduate or a recent graduate with at least 16-24 hours of availability to work (some remote work acceptable).

Congressman Bruce Westerman
(AR-04) is currently accepting applications for his Spring and Summer 2016 internship programs in his Washington, D.C., and Hot Springs offices. He is seeking highly qualified candidates who are motivated, detail-oriented, and personable. The ideal candidates will have excellent research and writing abilities, be able to multi-task, and interact well with constituents. Interns will have the opportunity to experience working on Capitol Hill, learn about the legislative process, and attend briefings of interest. In the DC office, responsibilities will include answering the phone, giving tours of the Capitol, assisting with constituent correspondence, and supporting the legislative and communication staff on various projects. Although internships are unpaid, the office is happy to fill out any necessary forms for students to receive credit at their respective colleges or university. The Institute for Educational Leadership is seeking a detail–minded Communications & Events Intern who will work on the organization’s distinguished Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP). The Communications & Events Intern will support the EPFP Program Coordinator and the EPFP National Director, and will be expected to be on-site at the Washington Policy Seminar, our annual national conference, from April 13-16 in Washington, DC. This is a great opportunity for a university senior or recent graduate interested in a career in communications, event planning, or nonprofit work. The Communications & Events Intern must be an energetic, detail-oriented, and organized individual who takes initiative and is comfortable asking questions and working with colleagues at all levels, from fellow interns to organizational leaders.

The weekly schedule, hours, and start and end dates for this internship are flexible, depending on the intern’s availability. Travel stipend of $10/day is provided.

Washington Performing Arts offers internships throughout the year. Applicants should be highly motivated, creative, and hard-working individuals with an interest in all aspects of arts management. It is preferred that applicants have previous office experience. In addition, applicants should possess:

Robert Lewit Fellowship in Education Policy is available for a two-month period during the summer or the academic year to a student currently engaged in undergraduate or graduate studies at any institution of higher education, with preference given to students of Harvard University. Recent graduates with a strong interest in ACTA’s mission of higher-education reform and an excellent scholarly record may also be considered.

The American Council of Trustees and Alumni seeks accomplished, high-energy undergraduate, graduate, and professional students with excellent research and communication abilities to apply for spring and summer internships.

Interns will primarily conduct research for ACTA’s What Will They Learn?™ project. They will also write, perform clerical and administrative tasks, and enter data. ACTA interns have provided critical assistance to the full-time staff and have prepared materials that have appeared in nationally syndicated news stories and have been sent to trustees and alumni across the country. Alumni of the internship program have returned to work at ACTA, and have gone on to work at other Washington area policy organizations. This is a paid internship.

The Summer internship begins in late May; please apply by March 29, 2016.  Applications will be reviewed until all positions are filled.

The Naval History and History Heritage Command offers internships to students who wish to have professional work experience in areas related to their educational programs and career goals. In addition to undertaking historical research, writing, and editing, the Naval History and Heritage Command operates the Navy Department Library and the National Museum of the United States Navy and maintains collections of naval archives, photographs, artifacts, and art. Internships are available in all of these areas. The Command is located in the Washington Navy Yard, 805 Kidder Breese Street SE, Washington, D.C.

  • Eligibility: Registered students of colleges or universities and graduates thereof (for J-1 applicants they must be within twelve months of graduation) are eligible for this program.
  • Nature of Internships: Each intern receives orientation on his/her branch’s functions and those of the Command. The intern will assist her/his branch in its daily operations. In addition, she/he will be responsible for completing an individual project which contributes to the Command’s work. Interns work with an experienced professional member of the Command’s staff who, in conjunction with the intern, will plan the project. The staff also will provide supervision, instruction, and evaluation.
  • Duration: There is no set length for an internship. The minimum period is three weeks full-time, except for J-1 visa holders for whom it is four weeks. Internships can last an academic quarter or semester, during which time a student may serve on either a full or part-time basis.
