The Washington Ballet’s Studio Company and students perform excerpts from Michael Pink’s Dracula and demonstrate choreography from the classic 1983 Michael Jackson music video “Thriller.” In collaboration with The Washington Ballet. National Zoo – Visit the National Zoo’s new exhibit – The American Trail – provides a multi-sensory experience with great animal viewing opportunities for visitors. The exhibit showcases North American animals including seals and sea lions, beavers, river otters, bald eagles, ravens and more. Latino Festival DC– September 23, 2012, 11 – 7 p.m.
The Latino Festival in Washington DC, also known as Fiesta DC, is an annual celebration highlighting the Latino culture with a Parade of Nations, a children’s festival, a science fair, a diplomatic pavilion for embassies and consulates, arts & crafts, and international cuisine. The free festival is huge and takes over the neighborhood bringing together dozens of non profit organizations, community leaders, and members of the corporate and private sector. Turkish Festival- Sunday, September 30, 2012, 11-7pm
The Annual Turkish Festival, sponsored by the American-Turkish Association of Washington DC, is a family-friendly festival celebrating authentic Turkish art and culture with a rich variety of live musical and folk dance performances underscoring Turkey’s unique ties with the Balkans, the Middle East, the Caucuses and Central Asia. The Turkish Festival will also feature hands-on activities for kids, art demonstrations, guest speakers, arts and crafts vendors and Turkish cuisine. Festival to take place in Freedom Plaza, Pennsylvania Avenue, NW between 12th and 14th Streets.
Taste of DC- October 6-8, 2012, 12-7 p.m.
Taste of DC is a premier food festival in Washington DC featuring tastings from more than 50 of DC’s best restaurants and a Beer Garden with more than 30 local, national and international brews. The 2012 event has a Farm-to-Fork Zone, a Family Zone with interactive games and entertainment, and demonstrations from local chefs cooking up their favorite recipes. Live entertainment will be performed on the Main Stage with local and national headlining acts, as well as the 2nd Annual Ben’s Chili Bowl’s World Chili Eating Championship featuring Joey “Jaws” Chestnut. Event to take place Pennsylvania Ave NW, 9th-14th Streets. $10 Admission fee.
Woodrow Wilson Bridge Half Marathon- October 7th
The Woodrow Wilson Bridge Half Marathon is an exciting race that begins at Mt. Vernon Estates and ends in National Harbor, Maryland. The race benefits several non-profit organizations and is supported by various local and national running organizations. The event is also part of the Pacers Events 2012 Race Series.
